RUFUS RETROISTICS

FAQ

Straight answers, including the ones that aren't exciting.

Is the Outpost a real van I can buy today?

Not yet. The Outpost is in early development (Phase 0 on our roadmap). The design exists on paper, and the next step is building a running test vehicle. Reservations measure real demand so we can raise the money to build it.

When will it ship?

We don't have a delivery date yet, and we won't make one up. Building, testing, and certifying a vehicle takes years. Reservation holders will get updates at every phase.

Is the photo on the site the real Outpost?

No. It's an inspiration image showing the feel we're going for. The production Outpost will have its own design, and we'll share real renders and prototype photos as they exist.

How do reservations work?

A reservation holds your place in line for Batch 001, our first production run. You pick a tier, engine, and color, and you can change them later. A reservation doesn't commit you to buying anything.

Can I get my deposit back?

Yes, anytime, for any reason, in full. Email hellorufusretroistics@gmail.com or reply to your receipt. See the refund policy for details.

Are the prices final?

No. Prices on the site are launch targets. Final pricing depends on suppliers and production costs, and you'll see it before you're ever asked to buy.

Can I choose any engine with any tier?

Yes. Tiers (Post, Camp, Fort) set what's built in, like lockers and suspension. Engines are a separate choice, and every engine fits every tier.

Will there be dealers?

No. Outposts will be sold directly, with one clear price and no dealer markup.

Who will service it?

You can, or any independent shop. The Outpost uses physical controls, standard parts, published manuals and wiring diagrams, and plain-English diagnostics a cheap scan tool can read.

Where will it be built?

The plan is to build in Arizona. Desert heat makes it a tough testing ground, which is exactly what an overland van needs.

Will the Outpost be sold in Canada?

Yes, that's the plan. The Outpost is being designed for the USA and Canada. Canadian sales need their own safety certification, so Canada may come slightly after the US launch. Canadians can reserve now, and prices are shown in US dollars.

Is it electric?

No. The Outpost is gas-powered, with a diesel option being explored. That keeps the price down and keeps it fixable anywhere.

What is a Batch 001 Founder?

The first 2,000 people to reserve. Founders get a founder number, votes on design decisions, first dibs on every special edition, a merch kit, and a signed, numbered service manual. Founder spots can't be transferred, and getting a refund gives up the spot.

Will there be special editions?

Yes. The first two planned are Signal Amber, a retro-tech edition with an amber monochrome theme, and the Batch 001 Founders Edition. See special editions.

Is there a referral program?

Yes. Sign up for updates and you'll get your own referral link. Every friend who reserves through it moves you up the line. See referrals.

What do you do with my information?

We use it only to manage your reservation and send Outpost updates, and we never sell it. See the privacy policy.
